Why People Harm

At the Healthy Relationships Awareness Centre, we believe that truly preventing domestic abuse means addressing the root causes of harmful behaviour. This mean identifying and working with perpetrators of domestic abuse. Our working with perpetrators training is designed to equip professionals, to identify perpetrators, understand how to discuss domestic abuse, recognise manipulation, avoid collusion and signpost for support.

This specialist training enables professionals to explore their own fears and concerns around working with perpetrators and equips them with the tools to know how to respond, whilst keeping themselves safe.

Perpetrator Motivations

Our working with perpetrators training explores why some individuals engage in abusive behaviour. We examine issues like power, control, childhood experiences, social norms, and difficulties handling emotions such as jealousy or anger. Understanding these factors is critical for those working with perpetrators of domestic abuse, as it enables more effective engagement and change.
